$15/hr 3 days a week 21 to 27 hours (Wed, Thurs, Friday, or Sat) 5 days a week 40 hours (If doing farmers markets in addition to farm hours) Wed thru Sun - Or we can talk about doing four 10 hour days ***Must be able to commit to this position until November at the very least!***
There is so much to learn about our urban farm! Microgreens, aquaponics, vermiculture, chickens, permaculture, organic growing, tomatoes, root crops, salad mixes, herbs, and more. Fresh air, getting dirty all while getting the blood pumping will have you going home feeling good about your day. Not to mention the fresh produce you get to take home with you. I strive to create a workplace you feel proud to be at. The team consists of mainly myself (Chris), John (a few days a week), Karla (our volunteer coordinator) and volunteers.
Duties include: - seeding microgreens - seeding transplants - transplanting - field seeding (with seeding machine) - hand transplanting to field - field harvesting (by hand and small harvester) - processing produce (washing, drying & packing) - pruning and upkeep of crops - general clean up and farm chores
Skills needed: - strong work ethic with experience in doing skilled trades, warehouse or blue collar work - able to stay on task and work efficiently on your own - lift up to 60 lbs - willing to learn and become more efficient over time - organized - self motivated - able to work on their feet all day - positive attitude! This is a commercial farm, a very small one, but we are still here to get the job done, so this means the work will be work. There will be easy days, and there will be harder days, but it's all amazing work I truely love and hope you will too! The work we do helps regenerate our earth, and bring healthy produce to our community.
